Profile
The Confederação Nacional das Cooperativas Médicas (the National Confederation of Medical Cooperatives, i.e. Unimed do Brasil) was founded on 28 November 1975 and is headquartered in São Paulo. It is the highest-level body of the Unimed medical cooperative system, overseeing the system's federations and primary units. The Unimed system originated with the first medical cooperative founded in Santos in 1967, and today comprises several hundred medical cooperatives and more than 110,000 cooperative physicians, with coverage across most of Brazil's territory, making it regarded as one of the world's largest medical cooperatives.
