Profile

The Uralungal Labour Contract Co-operative Society Ltd. (ULCCS) was founded on 13 February 1925 in Kerala, inspired by the ideas of social reformer Vagbhatananda, and is widely recognised as India's oldest workers' cooperative and today one of the largest workers' cooperatives in Asia. It originally undertook road- and dam-building works, and has since grown into a diversified enterprise spanning infrastructure construction and IT parks, with approximately 18,000 workers. The society has ranked highly among industrial and utility cooperatives in rankings from the World Cooperative Monitor report published by the International Cooperative Alliance and Euricse.
