TIP Friendly Society was founded in Jamaica in September 1997 and registered under the Friendly Societies Act of 1966; it is a non-profit mutual protection organisation for education-sector personnel, with members including teachers at all levels, education workers and teacher-training-college students. It improves members' economic, social and health circumstances through savings and credit, and sickness, accident and death benefits, is regulated by the Registrar of Co-operatives and Friendly Societies, and is regarded as Jamaica's largest friendly society and a member of ICA Americas.
