SOCIEDAD DE SEGUROS DE VIDA DEL MAGISTERIO NACIONAL (SSVMN)

The Sociedad de Seguros de Vida del Magisterio Nacional (SSVMN) was established by law in 1920 and is headquartered in Costa Rica; it is the country's earliest mutual insurance institution serving the education sector, predating the establishment of the national pension system. It provides mutual life insurance to teachers and administrative, security and other staff at public and private educational institutions, with more than 190,000 members (figure indicative only), and was awarded a distinguished-institution honour on its centenary in 2020. It is a member of ICA Americas.
