Profile
The SANASA Federation (Federation of Thrift & Credit Cooperative Societies) is the national apex organisation of Sri Lanka's thrift and credit cooperative movement, which grew through the consolidation of scattered primary thrift and credit societies under the leadership of Dr. Kiriwandeniya. It oversees thousands of primary thrift and credit societies and district-level secondary federations spanning urban and rural areas, engaged in microfinance and mutual savings and credit. According to its website, its affiliated primary societies number over 8,000, covering about a million members, making it an important force in Sri Lanka's cooperative movement and a member of the International Cooperative Alliance.
