Rah-e-roshd Cooperative Educational Complex (RCEC)

The Rah-e-Roshd Cooperative Educational Complex (RCEC) is Iran's first cooperative school, located in Tehran, offering education from kindergarten through high school. It originated as a summer school founded in 1986 by seven women for their children, and was formally registered as a cooperative in 1996. According to its own information, it now has about 500 teachers (some of whom are worker-members) and a community of several thousand students, parents and alumni, and has been named an outstanding Iranian cooperative for several consecutive years. RCEC joined the International Cooperative Alliance in 2018 and is a member of its Asia-Pacific region, notable as a worker cooperative running a school.
