The Central Union of Turkish Forestry Cooperatives (ORKOOP)

The Central Union of Turkish Forestry Cooperatives (OR-KOOP) is Turkey's national federation of cooperatives in the forestry sector, composed of regional forestry cooperative unions, with membership mainly drawn from forest-village residents who live in and depend on forest resources for their livelihoods. Its activities centre on the harvesting, processing and sale of forest products, afforestation and forest maintenance, and it provides production services and social support to members in forest regions, serving as an important organisational vehicle for the forest-region economy and sustainable forest management in Turkey.
