National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA)

The National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA), founded in 1942 and headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, is the national trade association for America's rural electric cooperatives. It represents more than 900 consumer-owned, non-profit generation, transmission and distribution cooperatives and public power providers nationwide, serving about 40 million people, with activities spanning industry advocacy, regulatory affairs, insurance and employee benefits, training and technical services; through its international division it also carries out overseas rural electrification cooperation, making it the core organisation of the American electric cooperative movement.
