Profile
The National Institute of Cooperative Development (NICD) is Sri Lanka's education and training institution for the cooperative sector, located in Polgolla, Kandy District. Its predecessor was the Sri Lanka Co-operative College, under the Department of Co-operative Development since 1943, and it was reorganised into a comparatively independent institute under specific legislation in 2001. NICD offers diploma and certificate courses in accounting, banking, auditing, microfinance, management and other specialisations for cooperative officers and practitioners, and is Sri Lanka's only dedicated cooperative training institution.
