Profile

The National Cooperative Bank (NCB), established under the US National Consumer Cooperative Bank Act of 1978, began lending in 1980, and converted to a privately owned cooperative financial institution under its present name in 1985, headquartered in Virginia. Organised on a cooperative basis, NCB provides nationwide banking and credit services specifically to cooperatives and member-owned institutions, with customers including food cooperatives, purchasing cooperatives, housing cooperatives and credit unions. NCB publishes the annual "NCB Co-op 100" list tracking America's highest-revenue cooperatives, occupying a distinctive position in US cooperative finance.
