National Association of Labour Banks (NALB)

The National Association of Labour Banks (NALB) is the national central body for Japan's labour bank (rokin) industry, established in 1951 and now a general incorporated association, headquartered in Tokyo. Labour banks are cooperative financial institutions established under the Labour Bank Act with capital from labour unions, consumer cooperatives and other workers' organisations, providing deposit and loan services specifically for workers. The association provides guidance, research, personnel training and external representation for the nation's 13 labour banks and their federation, serving as the coordinating hub of Japan's workers' cooperative financial system.
