Profile
The National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) was established on 2 October 1958, headquartered in New Delhi, as the apex national marketing cooperative registered under the multi-state cooperative societies legislation. Its mission is to promote the marketing of agricultural and forest produce, procure agricultural commodities at the Minimum Support Price (MSP), and provide storage and processing services to protect farmers' interests. According to its own figures, its membership comprises more than 900 state-level marketing/consumer cooperative federations and primary societies, with a number of regional and sub-regional offices, making it a core institution of India's cooperative movement and agricultural distribution system.
