Profile

The MASS-SPECC Cooperative Development Center is the oldest and largest regional cooperative federation in Mindanao, the Philippines; its predecessor was the South Philippines Educational Cooperative Center (SPECC), established in 1966, which merged with the Mindanao Alliance of Self-Help Societies (MASS) in 1984 to form the current organisation. Centred on cooperative education and support services, it provides capacity-building, financial and technical support to primary credit cooperatives. According to its website, it has about 335 affiliated primary cooperatives with a combined membership of about 1.6 million, and is a member of both the International Cooperative Alliance and CICOPA.
