Karachi Cooperative Housing Societies Union Ltd. (KCHSU)

The Karachi Cooperative Housing Societies Union Ltd. (KCHSU), founded in 1949, is a federation of housing cooperatives in Karachi, Pakistan, established under the cooperative law then in force to assist in acquiring and leasing land from government and other sources for cooperative housing development, and was used historically to settle refugees who arrived after independence on allotted land. As the parent body of multiple housing cooperative societies, it handles matters such as title registration, transfer and leases. According to its data, it represents more than twenty member societies and over 100,000 individual members, and is a member of the International Cooperative Alliance.
