Japanese Consumers' Cooperative Union (JCCU)

The Japanese Consumers' Co-operative Union (JCCU), founded in March 1951, is the national federation representing and serving consumer cooperatives across Japan, headquartered in Tokyo; one of its founders was the social activist Toyohiko Kagawa. According to its own figures, it has around 300 member consumer cooperatives with a combined membership in the tens of millions, mainly supplying food and daily necessities through store operations and home delivery, making it Japan's largest consumer organisation. JCCU is one of the world's largest consumer cooperative organisations and an important member of the International Cooperative Alliance.
