Profile

The Japan Cooperative Alliance (JCA), established on 1 April 2018, is the national apex organisation for cross-sectoral cooperatives in Japan, headquartered in Tokyo. It was formed through the reorganisation of the Japan Joint Committee of Co-operatives (JJC), established in 1956, bringing together agricultural cooperatives (JA), consumer cooperatives, fisheries cooperatives, kyosai and other cooperative types. JCA's principal functions include promoting cooperation among cooperatives, proposing policy, and undertaking public relations, education and research, aiming to provide a unified voice for Japan's large cooperative sector, and it is a member of the International Cooperative Alliance.
