Instituto Movilizador de Fondos Cooperativos (IMFC)

The Instituto Movilizador de Fondos Cooperativos (IMFC) is a second-tier cooperative organisation in Argentina, founded at the Argentine Cooperative Congress held in Rosario in November 1958. Its purposes include disseminating cooperative principles, representing member cooperatives, promoting the creation of new cooperatives, and mobilising the idle funds of credit cooperatives through mutual-aid networks. Between 1958 and 1966, the number of credit cooperatives nationwide grew substantially under its impetus; after the 1977 financial reforms, the resulting credit cooperative institutions consolidated into several cooperative banks, ultimately converging into Banco Credicoop. IMFC has played a pivotal role in Argentina's credit cooperative movement and is a member of ICA Americas.
