Profile

The Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Ltd. (IFFCO) was registered in New Delhi in November 1967 as a multi-state cooperative, primarily engaged in the production and marketing of fertiliser. It began with 57 member cooperative societies and, according to its website, has since grown into a large cooperative with about 35,000 member cooperative societies, benefiting tens of millions of Indian farmers; it is India's largest fertiliser manufacturer, holding a significant share of the urea and complex-fertiliser markets, and has expanded into insurance, rural telecommunications, agrochemicals and rural e-commerce. IFFCO is among the world's highest-turnover cooperatives and an important member of the International Cooperative Alliance.
