The Instituto de Desarrollo y Crédito Cooperativo (IDECOOP), established under Law No. 31 of 1963, is the regulatory authority for the cooperative movement in the Dominican Republic, with autonomous status, independent legal personality and independent assets. Its responsibilities include the registration, supervision, education promotion and development support of cooperatives, overseeing cooperative affairs across the social and solidarity economy nationwide, and it is currently under the agricultural sector's purview. As an associate member of ICA Americas, IDECOOP represents the Dominican cooperative system in its capacity as the regulatory authority.
