Housing Europe (the European Federation of Public, Cooperative and Social Housing) is the European-level federation for that housing sector, founded in 1988, with its secretariat established in Brussels in 2001. According to its website, it brings together about 44 national and regional housing federations plus a number of partner organisations, covering more than 30 European countries; its members manage around 25 million homes, roughly one-tenth of Europe's housing stock. Its purpose is to advocate for affordable housing and to represent the public, cooperative and social housing sector at EU level.
