GdW Bundesverband deutscher Wohnungs- und Immobilienunternehmen e.V. (GdW)

GdW (Bundesverband deutscher Wohnungs- und Immobilienunternehmen e.V., the Federal Association of German Housing and Real Estate Companies) is the central confederation of Germany's housing economy, founded in 1949 and headquartered in Berlin. It operates as an "association of associations," with more than a dozen affiliated regional federations whose members include housing cooperatives and various types of housing companies. According to its data, member enterprises number about 3,000, managing around 6 million rental homes and serving more than 13 million tenants — nearly 30% of all rental housing in Germany. GdW is a member of Cooperatives Europe, the ICA's European regional organisation.
