Profile

The Austrian Federation of Limited-Profit Housing Associations (GBV, Österreichischer Verband Gemeinnütziger Bauvereinigungen) was founded in 1946 and is headquartered in Vienna. It is the statutory auditing association and interest-representation body for Austria's non-profit (limited-profit) housing organisations. Its members include housing cooperatives and limited-profit housing companies operating under the Limited-Profit Housing Act, which requires surpluses to be reinvested to safeguard affordability. According to its data, GBV has more than 180 member organisations, which manage housing stock accounting for roughly one-fifth of Austria's total housing supply and about two-fifths of multi-family housing. It is a member of the International Co-operative Alliance and Cooperative Housing International (CHI).
