Profile

The Federación Argentina de Cooperativas de Consumo (FACC) is the national federation for Argentina's consumer cooperative sector, founded in Buenos Aires in July 1932 by 26 cooperatives convened by El Hogar Obrero ("The Workers' Home"), and was Argentina's earliest vertical integration body for urban cooperatives; in 1939 it became the country's first union to join the International Co-operative Alliance. Historically it united hundreds of cooperatives; it suffered a setback after the 1991 crisis of El Hogar Obrero, later rebuilding with support from Cooperativa Obrera, and now unites more than a hundred cooperatives. It is a member of ICA Americas.
