Euro Coop (European Community of Consumer Co-operatives) (Euro Coop)

Euro Coop (the European Community of Consumer Co-operatives) is the European-level union of consumer cooperatives, founded in 1957, with its secretariat in Brussels and primarily serving the retail sector. According to its website, it represents about 20 national member organisations, covering thousands of cooperative enterprises, tens of thousands of retail outlets and millions of employees, and tens of millions of consumer members. Euro Coop's purpose is to defend the interests of consumer cooperatives and promote cooperation among members at EU institutional level, and it was one of the earlier non-governmental organisations recognised by the European Commission.
