Profile
The Department of Agricultural Marketing & Cooperatives (DAMC) is Bhutan's government agency responsible for cooperatives, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock; it was established in 2009 and began operating as an independent department in 2010, headquartered in Thimphu. The department leads cooperative development in Bhutan, is responsible for implementing the Cooperatives (Amendment) Act, and promotes the formation, registration, capacity-building and market linkage of cooperatives, working to transform Bhutanese agriculture from subsistence to market-oriented production.
