Profile

The Confederación Uruguaya de Entidades Cooperativas (CUDECOOP), formally established in 1988, is the apex representative body of the Uruguayan cooperative movement, with its predecessor being the National Inter-Cooperative Coordination Board (Mesa Nacional Intercooperativa), founded in 1984. Through its member organisations, CUDECOOP represents thousands of grassroots cooperatives across all sectors nationwide, involving over a million members; since 2011, under the General Cooperatives Law (Law No. 18.407), it has operated as a third-tier cooperative, playing a central role in the Uruguayan cooperative movement and in public-policy consultation with the state.
