COOPERATIVA DE SERVICIOS MÚLTIPLES LA TELEFÓNICA (COOPSEMUTEL)

Cooperativa de Servicios Múltiples La Telefónica (COOPSEMUTEL) was founded in 1964, initiated by employees of the Compañía Dominicana de Teléfonos, as a savings-and-credit-cum-multi-service cooperative. Its membership consists mainly of current employees of that company and affiliated enterprises, with services covering savings, payroll loans, cooperative insurance, catering and funeral planning, among others; it is one of the longer-established employer-based cooperatives in the Dominican Republic and a member of the International Co-operative Alliance.
