COOPERATIVA MÉDICA DEL VALLE Y DE PROFESIONALES DE COLOMBIA (COOMEVA)

Cooperativa Médica del Valle y de Profesionales de Colombia (COOMEVA) was founded in Cali in March 1964 by 27 physicians, originally as a savings and credit cooperative for doctors in Valle del Cauca Department, later developing into a multi-service cooperative for professionals of all kinds. According to its data, members and their families now number more than 250,000. From 2001, the cooperative became the parent of the "Coomeva Business Group," which controls numerous companies spanning finance, insurance, healthcare and dozens of other products and services, making it one of Colombia's largest cooperatives and a member of ICA Americas.
