COOPERATIVA DEL MAGISTERIO DE CUNDINAMARCA (CODEMA)

Cooperativa del Magisterio de Cundinamarca (CODEMA) is a Colombian savings, credit and multi-service cooperative for teachers, founded in Bogotá in 1964 by the teacher Jesús Antonio Lozano Asprilla and others, and obtained legal status in 1965. It arose from teachers' desire to improve their own welfare and conditions, serving mainly teachers in Bogotá and Cundinamarca Department; according to its data it has more than 36,000 members. The cooperative is representative of Colombia's teachers' cooperative movement and a member of ICA Americas.
