Bangladesh Jatiya Samabaya Union (BJSU)

The Bangladesh Jatiya Samabaya Union (BJSU) is the national apex organisation representing Bangladesh's cooperative movement, bringing together primary and secondary cooperatives across agriculture, fisheries, savings and credit, dairy, handicrafts and other fields. Its predecessor, the East Pakistan Cooperative Union, joined the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) as early as 1961; after Bangladesh's independence it was reorganised as BJSU. As the national apex body, it plays a role in consultation on cooperative legislation, policy advocacy, education and training, and in representing the country's cooperatives in international affairs, and is a member of ICA's Asia-Pacific region.
