The Malaysian National Cooperative Movement (ANGKASA)

The Malaysian National Cooperative Movement (Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia Berhad, ANGKASA) was registered in May 1971 in response to a proposal from the Second National Cooperative Congress, headquartered in Selangor. As the apex body of Malaysia's cooperative movement, it is dedicated to uniting cooperatives nationwide, safeguarding the rights and interests of the cooperative movement, representing it domestically and internationally, disseminating cooperative principles, and assisting member cooperatives' development. In 1996 the government formally gazetted ANGKASA as the organisation representing Malaysia's cooperative movement. It is a member of both the ASEAN Cooperative Organisation and the International Cooperative Alliance.
